Reelcraft products began as the Equipment Corporation, in Delta, Ohio and supplied hose reels to distributors, who then sold the products under private labels. On June 11, 1943, the assets of Equipment Corporation were acquired by the Wayne Pump Company and moved to Fort Wayne, Indiana. Six years later, following the purchase of the company by C.J. Symington, the Wayne Pump Company merged with the Martin & Schwartz Company from Salisbury, Maryland. Symington combined the field working group and the senior management group of Martin & Schwartz with the Wayne Pump Company name and location. In 1951, poor labor conditions and a strike in Fort Wayne forced Symington to move the Hose Reel Division and the Gasoline Pump Division back to Salisbury, Maryland, leaving the Air Compressor Division as the only product line left in Fort Wayne, Indiana. During the late 50’s, the Wayne Pump Company name was changed to Symington - Wayne to include the Symington - Gould Company in Depew, New York. In the next ten years the Symington - Wayne Company would experience more changes than just its name. The following decade saw controlling interest change to Dresser Industries. After a one year legal fight, which pronounced Dresser victorious, a forced merger resulted. Following the merger, Dresser divested itself of the Hose Reel Division because of insufficient sales growth and in 1964 the Hose Reel Division was moved back to Fort Wayne, Indiana. In 1969, the company changed hands once again when it was sold by Dresser Industries to Mr. Richard Schaller and Mr. Stan Penn, Jr. It was after this change in ownership that the company was renamed Reelcraft Industries. In 1971, using all fixtures, jigs, drawings, and finished and unfinished inventory that were included in the sale, Reelcraft began manufacturing hose reels once again. Following Richard Schaller’s retirement in 1981, Stan Penn became the sole owner and president of Reelcraft Industries. In 1991, Reelcraft purchased Nordic Systems, of Mississauga, Canada. Nordic Systems manufactured specialty fire, fuel and custom designed reels and related fire and petroleum OEM equipment. In 2006, Nordic Systems was consolidated into Reelcraft’s Columbia City, Indiana facility and continue to manufacture custom, fuel and fire reels under the Reelcraft name. Stan Penn passed away on January 2, 2004, and the ownership of Reelcraft Industries, Inc. transferred to a corporate trust, with his wife, Sally, serving as senior trustee. On August 16, 2007, Reelcraft Industries, Inc. was acquired by LN Acquisition Corp. a Harbour Group company headquarted in St. Louis, Missouri. On December 28, 2010, SKF Corporation, a publicly traded company, purchased Lincoln Holdings Enterprise. Widest range of products Reelcraft manufactures over twenty five hundred models of hose, cord and cable reels, as diverse as heavy-duty hose reels used in the marine industry, hose reels within robotic automotive assembly cells and reels needed to syringe the greens of a golf course. These models include spring retractable, motor driven, hand crank, stainless steel, twin welding, twin hydraulic and electric reels, handling hose lengths up to six hundred feet and ranging from ¼ inch to 4 inches in diameter. The spring retractable models are widely used in industrial applications to improve safety by keeping hoses and cables off the floor as well as maintenance areas to provide air or power when and where it is needed. The majority of Reelcraft hose reels deliver fluid and air, with the others designed to coil welding cables, extension and power cords. Our reels are used to transfer anything from air, water, transmission fluid, grease, oils, antifreeze, diesel fuels, welding gases, liquid pesticides, fertilizers, detergents, solvents, chemicals, blacktop sealers and printing inks, in industries as diverse as aviation, industrial and automotive markets, to reels for the residential garage. Reelcraft has proven itself as a highly innovative company in developing new products for a wide range of markets. Industry leader for quality, service and delivery Reelcraft's dedicated workforce, together with implementation of programs such as Lean Manufacturing and SKF's Business Excellence, have contributed to Reelcraft becoming the industry leader for manufacturing spring-driven reels in the United States and worldwide.
